It looks like they found a sucker person to become the CEO of Yahoo and clean up the mess left behind by Jerry Yang. News.com is reporting that Carol Bartz who is the former CEO at Autodesk (and is currently their chairperson) has been approached by Yahoo to take the job and they expect her to respond “quickly.”
Assuming that this is true, this might be a good move for Yahoo. Bartz is well known and respected in the valley and should bring some much needed credibility and stablity to Yahoo. However the street seems not to agree as the stock is currently down 2% as I write this.
I wonder if she will restart negoitations with Microsoft to buy all or part of Yahoo? Of course I’m getting ahead of myself here. First she has to take the job. As soon as I know, you’ll know.
UPDATE: The word is out. Carol Bartz is the new CEO of Yahoo.
