Rogers Introduces TechXpert

One of the things I’ve always hated about dealing with most telcos is that if you have anything on say your home network that you didn’t get from them, the telco either won’t help you because that non-telco equipment is there or simply blame it for whatever issue you’re having. Now to be fair, it’s exceedingly difficult to support stuff that you don’t sell as it adds a wildcard to the situation. Thus it’s hard to really hold it against the telcos, though I always wished that they would try harder in terms of supporting this stuff.

Well, that was then and Rogers has shifted that paradigm by introducing TechXpert. Available to Rogers High Speed internet customers, Rogers TechXpert provides access to a personal technology expert available 24/7 by phone or online chat. The big plus is that it extends tech support services for products and software not built or sold by Rogers. You have a number of options that range from $9.99 a month for support with your computers to $14.99 a month to support your whole home. There’s also one time options that range from $49.99 to $129.99 as well.

What do I think? If Rogers can bring the right resources to the table to support such diverse devices such as tablets, routers, and the like, this could be a winner for them. I’d love to know what your experiences are with Rogers TechXpert. If you use them, please post a comment and share your experience.
