Review: 2016 Mazda6 GT – Part 5

So I’ve come to the end of the review of the Mazda6 GT. First, let me tie up some loose ends. At the end of my week with it I registered an impressive 8.3 L/100KM in mixed city and highway driving, a lot of which was in rush hour. I should also mention that I did not drive any different or try to save fuel. Clearly Mazda’s SkyActiv technology combined with i-Eloop works to save you gas. But still give a car that is excellent on the highway and handles well.

The Mazda6 starts at $24,695 and as tested goes for $35,695 which puts it in line with most of the mid sized class. Now someone will say “it doesn’t have a V6” and my answer to that is that you don’t need it and if you don’t believe me, go to a Mazda dealer and test drive it. Besides, considering that it comes with a lot for your money including Smart City Brake Support which is something that you don’t find on many other cars at this price point, I would argue that the Mazda6 is a good value and very much worth looking at if you are in the market for a mid-sized car. And the tweaks that Mazda has done 2016 have only reinforced that view in my mind.

It’s also an early contender for another IT Nerd Best Car Under $40K award. Let’s see if anything else I drive this year can knock it off the block.
