iOS 12 Puts The Boots To GrayKey…. For Now

Forbes is reporting via multiple anonymous sources that the GrayKey box is unable to obtain the passcodes of any iPhone or iPad running iOS 12 or later. That implies that Apple has put the boots to GrayKey and as a result law enforcement types no longer have the ability to break into iPhones at will to download evidence. Thus once again making the iPhone the smartphone of choice for bad guys everywhere. At least that is what law enforcement will be saying.

It’s not clear how Apple has done this, and they’re never going to tell us how. However, it’s very likely that this will be a temporary thing. You can bet that the folks at GrayShift who make the GrayKey device are working on countermeasures to get back into business.

Let the arms race begin.
