The Queen Street West BIA makes their most significant announcement yet in the ongoing series of upgrades to the modern-classic neighbourhood with the upcoming debut of the Queen Street West Wi-Fi project. The move signifies an innovative and digitally focused strategy by Queen Street West to be a trendsetter and to continually reinvent itself to meet the growing demands of visitors and businesses.

The network will extend from Simcoe Street to Bathurst Street along Queen Street West and will be part of the longest unbroken stretch of free public Wi-Fi in Ontario. This marks a key juncture in the reboot and rebranding the Queen Street West BIA has recently launched that includes an enhanced digital presence, a dynamic new logo and a host of vibrant signature events.  Besify, one of Toronto’s leading hotspot providers, is managing the development of the Wi-Fi program, which will be accessible to all visitors of the street.

The installation of the free public Wi-Fi is expected to bolster traffic on Queen Street West, with heightened consumer engagement and increased foot traffic. Toronto attracts more than 40 million visitors annually and Queen Street West dubbed the hippest street in Canada, is one of the defining destinations where tourists congregate to experience the epicentre of the city’s cultural richness and its diversity.  Additionally, the free WI-FI is predicted to raise the profile of the list of lively, eclectic and edgy Signature Events planned along the trendy strip for 2019.

After winning two awards for Branding & Events at the 2018 TABIA (Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas) the Queen Street BIA is continuing the momentum with this premier wireless initiative. Queen Street West, Toronto’s official destination for the cosmopolitan and urban chic is scheduled to go live with public WI-FI in early 2019.
