Facebook Faces Restrictions On Their Data Collection Activities

It looks like Facebook is facing action from Germany’s antitrust watchdog. According to Reuters, the German antitrust watchdog is planning to order Facebook to stop gathering “some” user data:

The Bild am Sonntag newspaper said the watchdog will present the U.S. company with its ruling on what action it needs to take in the next few weeks. A Facebook spokeswoman said the company disputes the watchdog’s findings and will continue to defend this position.

Good luck with that. Unlike the US, Europeans are serious about this sort of thing. And they won’t take the bull that Facebook is known to spew out in the process of defending their behavior. So if Facebook thinks they can fight this, they may be dreaming in technicolor and may be better off taking to the Germans rather than flipping them off.
