According to Reuters, Elon Musk wants out of the deal to buy Twitter. He claims that there was a “material breach of multiple provisions of the agreement.” Which is a reference to the number of bots on the platform which he disputed. But many thought was simply a way for him to weasel out of the deal as the view is that Musk was never serious about buying Twitter. Especially since the Twitter’s stock value has fallen in recent days.
However, it may not be easy for him to exit the deal. Twitter chairman Bret Taylor says that Twitter’s board is “committed to closing the transaction” and plans to pursue legal action to enforce the agreement.
Musk could be in deep trouble here as Twitter is likely to hold him accountable for his actions. Which I for one will be interested to see how he reacts to that.
