Re-Review: Sennheiser MM 30i Headset

Two years ago, I reviewed the Sennheiser MM 30i Headset as I needed one for the BlackBerry that I was using at the time. Now that I have an iPhone 5 and I am travelling today, I decided to re-review it. First of all, now that I have it on the iPhone, the volume controls work perfectly and the middle button allows you to pause and stop the music. Cool. What’s even cooler is that pressing and holding the middle button brings up Siri. That’s useful. When I tested the microphone, callers could hear me just fine.

Now the sound quality is very good as it delivered quality sound from high to lows over a broad range. I mentioned that they are noise cancelling headphones in my original review. That’s not quite accurate. Because they fit inside your ear, they do a great job of eliminating outside noise such as a jet engine. But they don’t do any sort of noise cancellation such as headsets that actively filter noise out to enhance the listening experience.

Are they worth the money? Yes. After two years and moving to the iPhone 5 this was a great purchase and I am glad that I have them on this trip so that I can pass the time on the two flights I need to take to and from North Carolina.
