Review: 2015 Buick Regal Turbo AWD – Part 1
“Isn’t Buick an old man’s car?”
That’s what my wife said when I told her that I was going to be doing a review of the 2015 Buick Regal Turbo AWD. And that also encapsulates the perception problem that Buick has. Buick is seen as a car that gives you an uninspiring plushy ride and old men are seen driving it. They’re doing their best to change that perception and I have to say that the Regal that I have this week is going to go a long way to shattering that perception.
This picture which was taken at St Jacob’s Farmer’s Market near Waterloo Ontario shows that the Regal can strike quite the pose.
From the front, the trademark waterfall grille gives the Regal a great look without being overwhelming. I should note that there are LED accented daytime running lights that look very cool.
From the side, it looks compact and athletic. The wheels really add to that look. For the record, the Regal is classified as a mid sized car.
For those of you who travel to Europe a lot, you’re likely saying “I’ve seen that rear end before.” And you have. This is the rear end to the Vauxhall/Opel Insignia which the Regal is based on. I like the look as it makes the Regal a very dynamic car to look at.
I’ll be posting a multi-part review that will cover the following sections:
- Engine, transmission, handling, fuel economy, and driving comfort
- Interior
- Technology in the vehicle
- Wrap up
I’ve only had the Regal for a short time, but I can say that is shatters any and all myths that I might have had about Buick coming into this review. I’ll start to detail how it shatters those myths tomorrow when I talk about to talk about how well it drives.
