If you have an iOS device and use Twitter, there’s a new app that the microblogging company has released called Vine which allows users to share video on Twitter. A blog post spills all the details:
Vine is currently available on the iPhone and iPod touch. You can download it for free from the App Store. We’re working now to bring it to other platforms, so stay tuned for that.
The blog post goes on to show you what Vine can do. But it also points you to the Vine blog which actually tells you what the app is all about:
Today we’re launching Vine, a new mobile service that lets you create and share beautiful, short looping videos. With Vine, capturing life in motion is fun and easy.
Posts on Vine are about abbreviation — the shortened form of something larger. They’re little windows into the people, settings, ideas and objects that make up your life. They’re quirky, and we think that’s part of what makes them so special.
We’re also happy to share the news that Vine has been acquired by Twitter. Our companies share similar values and goals; like Twitter, we want to make it easier for people to come together to share and discover what’s happening in the world. We also believe constraint inspires creativity, whether it’s through a 140-character Tweet or a six-second video.
Interesting. Clearly Twitter wants to be even more important to users than it already is.
So. Does this make you want to get a Twitter account? If you already have one, does it make you want to use Twitter more? Please post a comment an share your thoughts.
