Review: Scribe
I use my laptop on the sofa, in bed and in a lot of places in my condo. However putting a laptop on your lap or on your bed has disadvantages. Most notably heat. It will heat up your lap and airflow in and out of the laptop is compromised. That’s not a good thing. So I picked up a product called Scribe from Quirky. Scribe is a modular desk that allows you to put your laptop on your lap or on your bed while maintaining airflow and comfort. What’s cool about this product is that it has the following features:
- It has 5 elastic loops for pens. Three on the front. Two on the back.
- It has 2 work surfaces. One designed for laptops and one to write on when you flip it over.
- You can store it by hanging it on your bed frame.
- It has a pair of straps to hold books or your laptop for easy transport along with a handle to carry it.
I only use it for my laptop but it works very well. It is well constructed, stable and light and comfortable to use. I could see myself travelling with it as well. Though packing it might be a problem because of it’s size. It fits my MacBook Pro very well and the straps that you can slide books or the MacBook Pro into keep the computer from moving excessively. That’s a nice touch. Another nice touch is the fact that there’s a cutout to allow you to use the trackpad on your laptop without interference.
I cannot find any negatives about this product at all. None. And I tried for several days to find one. That says how good this product is. I picked mine up at ThinkGeek for $17.99 USD. That’s a price that cannot be beat for a product that does as much as the Scribe does.
