Hey IT Nerd! How Do I Report Abusive Tweets On Twitter?

I got this question in my inbox this morning:

Hello IT Nerd. I have a question I’ve been reading your stories about Twitter abuse and the changes that Twitter has made in terms of reporting abusive Tweets. But I can’t see those changes when I use Twitter. Am I missing something?

That’s a good question. What you see in terms of reporting depends on what device you access Twitter from. If you use Twitter on your iPhone, and you open up a specific Tweet, you’ll see three dots on the right hand side click on those dots and this is what you’ll see:

Simply click the Report Tweet button and you’ll get this:

Pick the category that the Tweet falls under and click Next. Congratulations, you’ve just reported a Tweet that bad.

Now if you do this on the web based version of Twitter, you won’t see any of this. Thus you cannot report any abusive Tweets. That’s a #fail in my mind. So in short, no, you’re not missing anything. Twitter clearly needs to address this sooner rather than later.
