Review: 2014 Volvo XC60 T6 AWD – Part 1
2014 is a big year for Volvo. They’re refreshing a number of vehicles including the S60, S80, and XC70 and introducing the V60 sport wagon to the market later this year. Also included on the list of vehicles to be refreshed is the XC60 which is what I have this week. Let me hit some of the highlights:
The exterior was redesigned for 2014 to give it more a presence and to stand out from its competition.
The XC60 that I have comes with sharp looking 19″ rims. If that’s not big enough for you, go for the sport option and you’ll get 20″ rims as part of the deal.
I love the way the exhaust is integrated into the read skid plate. Speaking of the skid plate, this one and the one up front are not there for show. They are functional.
It has tasteful amounts of chrome. For example this is what you get on the side of the XC60.
The XC60 I have this week has performance upgrades from Polestar. Oh boy, this will be VERY fun.
Volvo is aiming the XC60 squarely at the Mercedes Benz GLK350 and Acura RDX among others. To find out if it has what it takes to go head to head with them, I’ll be posting a multi-part review that will cover the following sections:
- Engine, transmission, handling, fuel economy, and driving comfort
- Interior
- Technology in the vehicle
- Wrap up
So lets see if Volvo can make the folks in Germany and Japan nervous.
