Review: 2016 Mazda CX-5 GT AWD – Part 1
Mazda is stepping up their game for 2015. First of all, they turned a lot of heads by changing their warranty to a three year unlimited mileage warranty. They’ve also in the process of bringing the CX-3 and new MX-5 to market. But just as important, they’ve refreshed their vehicles inside and out. I have the opportunity to look at three of them back to back to back with the first one being the 2016 Mazda CX-5 GT AWD:
New for 2016 are LED daytime running lamps and fog lamps.
From the side, it still looks fast even when it’s standing still.
Note the design of the 19″ wheels. I like them.
LED tail lights are new for 2016 but back are the cool looking dual tail pipes.
There are other more subtle changes that Mazda made to the CX-5. If you want to go hunting for them, take a look at my review of the 2015 model to see the differences.
This is a five passenger crossover that is clearly targeted to those who want a more engaging driving experience, but still need to carry lots of people or stuff and look good doing it.
I’ll be posting a multi-part review that will cover the following sections:
- Engine, transmission, handling, fuel economy, and driving comfort
- Interior
- Technology in the vehicle
- Wrap up
It will be interesting to see how all the changes that Mazda made to the CX-5 affect how it I like or dislike the vehicle. One area they didn’t change is the power train and handling. I’ll be talking about that tomorrow. Stay tuned!
