Review: 2015 Mazda3 GT – Part 3
The interior of the Mazda3 GT is impressive. People who saw it commented on how upscale and well put together it is. Let me show why they were impressed:
The drivers seat is power adjustable. It is a combination of cloth and leather and is heated and I must say that it does hold you in place quite well.
The window, mirror, and door controls are on the drivers side door. Note the red stitches as well as the faux carbon fiber trim.
Audio is supplied by Bose and it sounds great.
All the controls for the various electronic overseers are just to the left of the steering wheel. Below it, note the dead pedal that comes in handy for long drives. You can just see the levers and buttons to pop the hood, gas tank, and trunk. One thing to note is that the pictograms for the hood and trunk releases are kind of similar, thus they are easy mistake one for another when you first get the Mazda3.
The instrument cluster is simple, but very cool looking. Plus you can tweak it to get the info you want.
The steering wheel feels nice in my hands. It has controls for the cruise control, the audio system as well as the phone. Plus it has paddle shifters if you really want to have fun on some back roads.
One unique item is the Mazda Active Driving Display which puts relevant info right in your line of vision. I’ll talk more about this tomorrow when I look at the technology in the Mazda3.
The center console holds the infotainment system as well as the controls for HVAC. You can also see the HMI (Human Machine Interface) Commander Switch for the infotainment system.
You get a pair of cupholders that are quite deep and wide.
It fits a Venti Starbucks coffee easily. But it does block the HMI (Human Machine Interface) Commander Switch.
You get a deep storage area that doubles as an armrest. In it, you get two USB ports and a 12V outlet.
You get a decent sized glove box.
You also get a good sized moonroof.
The rear seats are good for two. Three is a stretch in my opinion unless it’s three kids. Legroom is decent by compact car standards.
If you don’t need to seat three people, you can use this for drinks or as an armrest.
The trunk is large by compact car standards.
It easily fits all the food and beer from our weekly shopping trip.
The trunk lid has handle to allow you to close the trunk without getting your hands dirty.
All the surfaces that you touch are soft. Plus the fit and finish is excellent. Everything that the driver could possibly need falls easily to hand as well. In short, almost everything interior wise is well thought through. The interior of the 2013 Mazda3 GT is well executed and you’ll impress those who sit in it.
Tomorrow I will discuss the technology that comes in the 2015 Mazda3 GT. Stay tuned!
