If you think that your wireless router isn’t doing what you need it to do, Google would like to help you with that. Via a blog post they have unveiled OnHub, a wireless router it has developed in partnership with TP-LINK, which Google says provides a Wi-Fi experience that’s “that’s fast, secure, and easy to use.” Though, you have to wonder how much data Google is going to collect about you if you have one of these in your home seeing as this company is kind of famous for doing that sort of thing. But I digress.
One of the key features is a “unique antenna design and smart software” that constantly searches the airwaves in your home. This looks for the ideal frequency channel to deliver data to your devices at the fastest speeds and with the least interference. Another key feature is that you can control the route via an app that allows you to see what the bandwidth usage is or to punt people who suck up too much bandwidth. It’s available for pre-order for $199.99 from online retailers in the U.S. including the Google Store, and Amazon. It will be available for sale in retail stores in the U.S. and in Canada in the coming weeks. In the meantime, check out this video that shows OnHub in action:
