Review: 2016 Mazda CX-9 Signature AWD – Part 1

If you’ve followed Mazda for the last few years, one word will pop to mind. No not “Zoom Zoom.” That’s two words. It’s Skyactiv. This is the technology that Mazda developed to make their cars fun to drive while sipping on gas. Every vehicle in their lineup except one had Skyactiv in it. That vehicle was the CX-9 which I reviewed in 2014. That has now changed with the introduction of the new 2016 Mazda CX-9. Rather than comment on each individual picture, let me show you the front, side and back of the CX-9:

Much like the CX-3 that I reviewed last year, I really feel that Mazda has nailed the look of this seven passenger SUV. It looks classy and upscale from any angle, and it is one vehicle that you want to be seen in.

My review of the CX-9 is made up of five parts:

  • Engine, transmission, handling, fuel economy, and driving comfort
  • Interior
  • Technology in the vehicle
  • Wrap up

One last note, the photos that are part of this five part review were taken using the Sony Xperia X Performance smartphone. I will be reviewing this phone in a next week so please watch for that review.

Tomorrow, I’ll be covering the fact that this seven passenger SUV comes with a 2.5l turbocharged 4 cylinder engine as opposed to a V6. How well does that work? Tune in tomorrow to find out.
