Review: 2017 Mazda6 GT – Part 3
The interior of the 2017 Mazda6 GT has taken a big step forward for 2017. Let me illustrate how nice it is with these photos which are taken with the ZTE Axon 7:

The doors illustrate how well crafted the Mazda6 is. You can see white nappa leather and chrome on the doors which give it an upscale look and feel.

The audio is provided by Bose.

The front doors have puddle lights.

The drivers seat is very comfortable complete with two memory settings. The driver and front passenger seats are heated and the driver gets a 8-way power-adjustable with power lumbar support. The passenger gets a 6-way power-adjustable seat.

The footwell for the driver has a dead pedal which you will appreciate on long drives. Above that are the controls for the various electronic overseers and a small storage box that is lined.

The steering wheel is heated and has controls for the infotainment system and the radar based cruise control.

The gauge cluster is very easy to read in all lighting conditions. The gauge on the right can be customized to display a variety of information.

This is the Mazda Active Driving Display which places speed, navigation, speed limit signs, and stop signs right in color and in your line of sight. I will talk more about this tomorrow.

There is a 7″ infotainment screen and to the left to that is the start/stop button for the engine.

Below the screen are the HVAC controls which happens to be a dual zone system. Below that is a cubby big enough to hold a iPhone 6 Plus and has a 12v outlet.

Here you see the leather accented shifter, the sport switch that makes the car more fun to drive, below that the electronic parking brake, and to the right to that the HMI Commander Switch for the infotainment system.

The cupholders have a sliding cover and hold a Venti Starbucks coffee with ease.

There is a good sized storage area in the armrest that has two USB ports and a 12v outlet.

There is a good sized glove box as part of the deal.

There is a decent sized sun roof that is powered.

The rear seats are roomy and have room for three if everyone is really friendly….

But if you don’t need three seats, you can flip this panel down to get access to two cupholders and the controls for the rear seat warmers.

There’s a HVAC vent for rear seat passengers.

The trunk is very roomy and the hinges are shrouded so that they don’t crush anything beneath them. Note the silver plate that keeps your bumper from being scratched.

As you can see, our haul from grocery shopping fits easily in the trunk with space to spare. Plus….

…. The trunk has a handle so that you don’t get your hands dirty when you close it. And….

You have a pair of pull handles that allow you to flip down the rear seats to get additional space.
Passengers in the front and rear get lots of legroom. However, I found that headroom was an issue for me as my head would sometimes touch the roof of the Mazda6. I had to end up reclining my seat to solve that, but a reclined seat is not my prefered seating position as I prefer the seat to be straight. It wasn’t a deal breaker, but it was a bit annoying and I didn’t note this on previous reviews of the Mazda6. Other than that, no squeaks, rattles, or other annoyances were noted during my week with the Mazda6.
Tomorrow, I will look at the technology in the Mazda6, and there’s a lot of it for me to cover. Stay tuned for that!
