I’m Having Problems With WiFi Staying Connected On iOS 8 [UPDATED x2]
Since updating to iOS 8, I’ve had an intermittent problem with WiFi staying connected. I tried resetting the network connections and that didn’t fix anything. I’m not sure what is going on and a Google search turns up no hits for this issue. Thus I’m at a bit of a loss.
Has anyone seen this? If so, do you have a fix? Please share it by leaving a comment below.
UPDATE: It seems to be related to signal strength. I use an Apple Airport Extreme which presents a 802.11 b/g signal and a 802.11 n signal. The 802.11 b/g signal is rock solid and doesn’t drop on my iPhone 5s. The 802.11 n signal however drops frequently depending on where I am in my condo. My workaround at the moment is to set up my iPhone to use both the 802.11 b/g signal and a 802.11 n signal. What will happen is that if the 802.11 n signal drops, the iPhone will jump back online with the 802.11 b/g signal. This suggests that iOS 8 is somehow measuring signal strength differently than iOS 7 or 7.1. That implies that Apple needs to fix this. It also suggests that if you don’t have a dual band router, you may have to suffer with this problem until Apple gets around to fixing it.
UPDATE #2: It seems that this is a widespread issue given this growing thread on the Apple Discussion Board.

Just downloaded ios8 a week ago and wifi will only stay connected for maybe 5 minutes at a time. Have to keep reconnecting after it drops.
