I just posted a story on Geek Squad going through their customers hard drives looking for porn. Here’s another item to chill your heart. CBC Marketplace did a story called “Getting Gouged By Geeks” where they set up a sting using a computer that has a simple problem that should be easy and cheap to fix, and videotape what happens next. It’s bad enough that these guys look through your hard drive, but to screw you over too? That’s just obscene.
If you watch the video to the end, Marketplace has some tips to avoid being a victim of one of these losers. Pass it along to your friends and think twice before you call one of these companies.
