India clearly saw Tata’s attempt to sell BlackBerries without permission to be a bad thing. According to this article, they want sales of the RIM product stopped unless certain conditions are met:
“Keeping in view of the security implication involved, the licencee (company) is directed not to connect or provide or run the BlackBerry e-mail and mobile messenger services unless the required monitoring system to the satisfaction of the security agencies are in place and the master key and algorithm are deposited with the licensor,” DoT said in a letter to Tatas.”
Of course bad stuff will happen to Tata if they don’t comply. So it will be interesting to see how Tata responds.
