You might remember that Microsoft was fined $1.337 billion by the European Union a while ago. Well it took a while, but the software giant has decided to appeal this fine. Microsoft said in a statement:
“We are filing this appeal in a constructive effort to seek clarity from the court. We will not be saying anything further,”
Whatever. But if you’re the E.U. you’re not losing sleep over this. Microsoft has appealed fines before and lost. Said an E.U. spokesman:
“The Commission is confident that the decision to impose the fine is legally sound,”
IMHO, Microsoft would be better off to just pay the fine and get on with business. They won’t and that might be entertaining to watch.
