This story shows the power of Google and a little creative thinking.
A 9 year old girl was kidnapped by her Grandmother this past Saturday from her Massachusetts home. When the child’s guardians reported her missing, cops were able to use the girl’s mobile phone to track down her location to within 300 feet. The problem was, it was in Virginia. The cops based in Massachusetts had no idea what the area looked like. So they turned to Google Street view and were able to see that a hotel was in the area of the mobile phone. Reasoning that the hotel was the likely place where the child was, Virginia cops were able rescue the girl and arrest the Grandmother.
I’m glad the child is safe, and the evil doer kidnapper is in jail. Hopefully someone involved in this sends a thank you to Google.
