Google held an event today to preview their upcoming OS called Chrome. Let me hit the highlights for you:
The OS is aimed at netbooks for the most part.
One of the main focus items is booting the OS quickly. According to Google, that’s currently down to 7 seconds.
Hard drives are verboten. Chrome will instead use flash memory and remote cloud storage.
“Chromium OS” is an open source version which will allow any interested developers to contribute to developing the best possible operating system. More details in the Google blog.
