BlackBerry Z10 Selling Well In The UK…. But Don’t Get Too Excited Yet

It appears that RIM Blackberry is finally getting some good news. Early reports indicate that the Z10 which went on sale yesterday in the United Kingdom is seeing strong demand:

Early sales of the BlackBerry Z10 phone are off to a “strong start,” Jefferies analyst Peter Misek asserted in a research note this morning.

Sales of the phone have launched in the U.K. Misek says some stores there had lines, “with widespread sell outs” of the white version of the touch-screen phone, and limited stock of the black version. He adds that checks find “a solid start” to pre-orders of the BlackBerry 10 based phones in both Canada and the UAE. Misek contends that the initial data points could help stem the recent slide in the company’s stock, since many thought the phone was dead on arrival.

I’m one of those who wasn’t optimistic about the chances of the Z10 in the marketplace. Does that mean I’m wrong? Maybe, but lets see how they do with the launch in Canada this morning. Also, I’d like to again point out that it won’t be until March before the Z10 is available in the US. That will be the true litmus test for whether BlackBlackberry roars back into the fight, or dies a slow death. This early success is likely not the true measure of how well this phone will or won’t do.
