Say you are truly interested in buying Google Glass. Let me tell you something about the terms of service for the device:
The company’s terms of service on the limited-edition wearable computer specifically states, “you may not resell, loan, transfer, or give your device to any other person. If you resell, loan, transfer, or give your device to any other person without Google’s authorization, Google reserves the right to deactivate the device, and neither you nor the unauthorized person using the device will be entitled to any refund, product support, or product warranty.”
So let us recap:
- You can’t loan the device to a friend, spouse, or anyone who might want to try it.
- You can’t resell it. Not on Craigslist, not on eBay, not anywhere.
- If you do either without the permission with Google, they can deactivate the device.
Perhaps I’m looking at this wrong, but seems a tad bit over the top. No?
So much for “don’t be evil.”
So far Google hasn’t commented, but it will be interesting to hear what they say when or if they do.
