Now this is an interesting press release that hit my inbox yesterday. Women are under-repersented in the fields of science and technology. Here’s an example, there were only 2 women in my graduating class back in the mid 90’s when I was in school majoring in computer science. Things are better these days, but not enough to say that things are where they should be. That’s why BlackBerry via their Global Creative Director, Alicia Keys is asking women around the world to apply for the new BlackBerry Scholars Program, an initiative designed to inspire women globally to enter and develop careers in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The BlackBerry Scholars program is looking to recruit the best and brightest candidates who are interested in studying STEM.
To kick off the program, BlackBerry is offering full, four year university scholarships to outstanding female candidates. If that’s you, click here to get more info on how to apply.
I applaud BlackBerry for trying to get more women into science and technology. By doing so, we all benefit.
