One of the things that I’ve said for years is that software sells smartphones. Not the other way around. BlackBerry and Sony are clearly listening to this as they’ve brought the popular video app Crackle to the BlackBerry 10 platform. Crackle is a video entertainment network that offers hundreds of Hollywood movies, television series and originals for free with minimal commercial interruption. Up until now, you could see movies and TV shows on any number of game consoles, smart phones, tablets and smart TVs, with the exception of BlackBerry devices. Now BlackBerry users can get their fix of action, comedy, crime, anime, horror, music, thriller and sci-fi shows and movies on the go on their BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Q10 smartphones. Given how fast these smartphones are and how good the screens are, that’s a welcome development for BlackBerry users.
