Spotted: Samsung Galaxy Tab 3

I haven’t head a lot of noise about the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, not even on Samsung’s Canadian website with the exception of a press release that I tripped over using Google. But be that as it may, I noted that it’s started to appear in Canadian retailers this weekend. Samsung’s latest tablet has the following specs:

  • 7-inch, 8-inch and 10.1-inch versions
  • 1.2Ghz, 1.5Ghz, or 1.6Ghz dual-core processor depending on which model you choose
  • 1GB  and 1.5 RAM depending on which model you choose
  • 8GB or 16GB storage depending on which model you choose
  • SD Card slot for up to 64GB of additional storage
  • 3MP or 5MP camera depending on which model you choose
  • 4000mAh battery
  • WiFi Only
  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean

You’ll note it’s WiFi only and there’s no 3G or 4G support. That’s fine as it’s aimed at people who want a low cost tablet. I would say that it’s perfect for kids or people who will never use it outside a WiFi only environment. It’s $199 for the 7″ version at Best Buy and Future Shop which are the places that I’ve seen it so far. Perhaps it will start popping up at other places this week and maybe even Samsung Canada will start promoting it more aggressively as the month goes on.

If you are in the market for a tablet at a low price point, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 should be on your list. Just don’t forget to get yourself a case to protect it.
