Politco is reporting that a meeting between President Barack Obama and technology executives took place this week. Those execs included Apple CEO Tim Cook, AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson, Google computer scientist Vint Cerf. The meeting took place behind closed doors, and nobody is commenting about what went on. The meeting was reportedly confidential and was the second meeting this week in which top government officials held discussions with representatives from the technology industry on this topic.
Given what has gone on with online privacy over the last little while, perhaps it would be wise to let the public know even a hint of what is discussed? That way the rumor mill doesn’t spin out of control and it puts the public at ease.
Just a thought.
