John McAfee Rejoices As Intel Changes The Brand Name Of Security Products Group
You might recall that John McAfee has had nothing but hate for the company he founded since it was bought by Intel and the products that bear his name. Well, he got some good news today. Intel is going to phase out the McAfee brand name and rebrand the products as “Intel Security”. Here’s what The Next Web had to say:
Intel also said that the process would happen “as new products are introduced.” This would suggest that whenever Intel releases the next version of every McAfee product, only then will it be branded Intel Security.
Intel’s security products won’t be getting a completely new logo, just a new brand name. The red shield, which Intel says represents “the core values of security and protection” will remain.
It did not take long for McAfee to respond to this. Here’s what the BBC reported:
“I am now everlastingly grateful to Intel for freeing me from this terrible association with the worst software on the planet. These are not my words, but the words of millions of irate users.
“My elation at Intel’s decision is beyond words.”
No. He’s not bitter at all.
One can only hope that along with the name change, the product improves. Though the cynical side of me says maybe not as it does keep me in business to a degree.

Haha John McAfee is quite the character. I haven’t used any McAfee products in a long time – I like my Norton 360.
