The IT Nerd Father’s Day Gift Guide

Father’s day is this Sunday. Instead of getting him some aftershave, why not get him a gift that’s unique and that he can really use? Here are my suggestions of gifts that will score some points with dad.

For the dad who wants to protect his personal info – Kena kai DataSafe ‘Croc’ Patterned Italian Leather Security Men’s Bi-fold Wallet or RFID Blocking Passport Billfold From ThinkGeek

What sets these products apart is that they block the ability for anyone to scan your credit cards or passport via RFID. Thus your dad’s personal info will remain safe under any circumstances. In this day and age, dad can’t be too careful.

For the dad who loves to drive – Fratelli Orsini CD3320 Touchscreen Leather Driving Gloves

These are a great pair of driving gloves if your dad loves to drive. But they have one extra trick. They allow you to press a touchscreen that is capacitive. In non-nerd speak, that means the gloves allow you to control your smartphone, tablet, or even some screens found in cars. Very handy.

For the dad who is on the run – TomTom Runner Cardio

This running watch keeps track of the routes that you run, your heart rate, and it will integrate with popular running apps. It’s easy to set up and easy to use and will benefit runners of all abilities.

For that dad that’s on the go – Samsung Galaxy S5

Samsung’s flagship phone has a great screen, is fast, and has a great camera with the fastest autofocus on a camera that I’ve ever seen. It’s even dust and waterproof. Exactly what dad needs if he is on the go.

For the dad who loves his iPad – Belkin FastFit Keyboard For iPad Mini or Brydge+ With Speakers

Depending on which iPad dad has, either of these keyboards is a great choice. The Belkin FastFit Keyboard not only protects the iPad Mini, but it also delivers a great typing experience. The Brydge+ turns the iPad into a MacBook Air complete with speaker. If you hook up dad with either one of these, you’ll be golden.

For the dad wants some style in his ride – 2015 Hyundai Genesis 5.0 Ultimate

Designed from the ground up to compete with the usual luxury suspects at a much lower price point, the Hyundai Genesis will impress dad with its power, handling, craftsmanship and technology. You won’t be able to wipe the smile off his face every time he gets out of it.

For the dad who changes his mind a lot – Asus Transformer Book T100

Does dad prefer a notebook or a tablet? Why not both? The Transformer Book T100 can convert to both a tablet and a notebook that runs Windows 8. Which means that whatever mood dad is in, he’s covered.

Can you think of any other gifts that would be good for dad? Post a comment and share your ideas.
