There have been rumors of some sort of BlackBerry/Google tie up for a while now that covered everything from a partnership to a BlackBerry phone running the Android OS. Now we have the facts via this announcement. BlackBerry and Google will make a more enterprise-ready version of the Android OS that will see the security features of BES12 integrated into Android 5.0 Lolipop and Google Play for Work.
This tie up is a win for Google as its been trying for a very long time to get credibility for Android in the enterprise space. This partnership will do that. It’s also a win for BlackBerry as it will give lots of people in the enterprise another reason (or in many cases a reason) to care about BlackBerry.
I do have one question. With this announcement, will we see an Android powered BlackBerry device soon?
