#Fail: VTech Changes T&C’s To Avoid Responsibility For You Getting Pwned

You might recall that toymaker VTech were found to have toys that were less than secure floating around in the hands of kids. Well, this story has taken a new twist. Developer-blogger Troy Hunt has noted that VTech has changed their terms and conditions to avoid responsibility for you getting pwned due to their crappy security:

YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT ANY INFORMATION YOU SEND OR RECEIVE DURING YOUR USE OF THE SITE MAY NOT BE SECURE AND MAY BE INTERCEPTED OR LATER ACQUIRED BY UNAUTHORIZED PARTIES.

So let me get this straight. VTech puts out toys that are not secure. But instead of making them secure, they wash their hands of it entirely and push all responsibility to you. Parents should take note of this and avoid VTech products if that is the case. Which based on the above it clearly is. Clearly this isn’t a company that deserves your cash as it is their responsibility to make their products safe and secure. The consumer should not be left holding the bag under any circumstances.

Shame on you VTech!
