Just when you think that Microsoft can’t get any more aggressive with forcing Windows 10 upgrades onto Windows 7 users, they just got more aggressive. Way more aggressive. Many users have confirmed in the comment section of a popular reddit post that “Windows 7 computers are being reported as automatically starting the Windows 10 upgrade without permission.”
Now to be fair, Terry Myerson, head of the OS group at Microsoft, warned users about the possibility of the OS automatically installing:
Depending upon your Windows Update settings, this may cause the upgrade process to automatically initiate on your device. Before the upgrade changes the OS of your device, you will be clearly prompted to choose whether or not to continue
But having said that, this is very wrong. Microsoft should not be in the business of forcing this upgrade down users throats. It’s getting to the point that the only way to avoid Windows 10 is to move to Mac. Given that Apple is the only company who is bucking the decline in PC sales, that may already be happening.
