A new mobile social app is taking the aggravation out of planning a night at the movies with friends. Landmark Cinemas announced this morning that it has partnered with Atom Tickets to bring Atom’s first-of-its-kind mobile ticketing platform and app to Canada.
Backed by entertainment powerhouses: The Walt Disney Company, 20th Century Fox and Lionsgate, Atom Tickets is available now for all Landmark Cinemas in Canada. This news follows the app’s announcement last month noting Calgary as the first North American city to officially launch the app. To help celebrate its expansive arrival, everyone’s first ticket to the movies purchased via the app is free while supplies last. Atom has made the “first ticket free” offer available for the entire month of April in every market that has a Landmark Cinema including: Vancouver, Edmonton, Kitchener/Waterloo, Whitby, Ottawa, Winnipeg, and St. Catharines.
The app provides relevant reviews, trailers and synopses information to help users make a decision on what to see. Then, with a few clicks, movie-goers can seamlessly invite friends to the same show and order tickets and concessions to skip all the lines in the theatre. Upon arrival, consumers redeem their tickets by simply scanning their QR code at tablets located at the usher and concession stands in the theatre. For Canadian movie-goers, there are no fees, no paper tickets and no IOU hassles.
