Microsoft Removes “X” From Windows 10 Upgrade Dialog

Every time you think Microsoft can’t get any more sleazy with their tactics to get you to upgrade to Windows 10, they get even more sleazy. Here’s the new low that they’ve hit. Remember that “x” that if if used it would schedule an upgrade to Windows 10? They’ve actually removed it entirely. Here’s what The Register is reporting:

It has eliminated the option to reschedule a chosen upgrade time once you’ve confirmed you want the update – while also removing the red “X” close option from the screen, preventing you from backing out after agreeing to the install.

And:

The change means Windows 10’s nagware is now out of step with – and ahead of – Microsoft’s official Knowledge Base documentation on the topic, which says you can reschedule your upgrade.

Now that this has come to light, two things will happen. One, that knowledge base article will chance so that it is in line with Microsoft’s sleazy tactics. Two, Microsoft will not back down from this in the slightest.

If you want to avoid this, and many do based on the volume of calls that I am getting at the moment on not having Windows nag them to upgrade, you can use Never 10 to avoid this nonsense. At least long enough to drive to the Apple Store to buy a Mac. Because if Microsoft is forcing you to upgrade in this manner, do you really want to use their software?
