If you were using Glassdoor on the down low to find a job, now everybody knows. That’s because the site accidentally outed hundreds of users seeking employment when it sent an email and failed to use the bcc button:
“We are extremely sorry for this error,” Glassdoor said in an emailed statement. “We take the privacy of our users very seriously and we know this is not what is expected of us. It certainly isn’t how we intend to operate.”
I bet you’re sorry. Seeing as this site also offers the ability for employees to trash review their current employers on their site without the risk of being fired, this is a major fail. You’d think a company of this size would have stricter controls to keep this sort of thing from happening. I guess not. I say they need to go fix that…. Now.
