It seems that the heat is too much for Samsung. The news is out that the production of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is being stopped. CNBC has all the details. But let’s face facts. This is now DEFCON 5 for Samsung. This is really, really bad for them. It is now getting harder and hard for them to recover from this. This quite frankly could be the extinction moment for the company.

UPDATE: Samsung has put out a statement. Here’s a portion of it:
We are working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to investigate the recently reported cases involving the Galaxy Note7. Because consumers’ safety remains our top priority, Samsung will ask all carrier and retail partners globally to stop sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note7 while the investigation is taking place.
