Review: 2017 Mazda3 Sport GT – Part 1

The compact car segment in Canada is extremely competitive. And Mazda has a two barreled approach to this segment with the Mazda3. They have a sedan and hatchback to offer up to customers. It’s the latter in the form of the 2017 Mazda3 Sport GT hatchback that I will be looking at this week.

The same sharp looking Kodo design language is back for 2017. But Mazda has made a number of changes to the Mazda3 Sport that this review will cover. The review will cover five parts:

  • Engine, transmission, handling, fuel economy, and driving comfort
  • Interior
  • Technology in the vehicle
  • Wrap up

One last note, the photos that are part of this five part review were taken using the ZTE Axon 7 smartphone. Please click here to read the review of that phone. Another thing to note is that the Mazda3 Sport GT will be my vehicle of choice for an overnight trip to Algonquin Park and I will be writing a travelogue about the experiences my wife and I have. Watch for that on Friday.

Tomorrow, I’ll be covering the fact that this compact hatchback is very quick and fun to drive while sipping gas. Stay tuned!
