The University of Guelph unveiled a new graduate degree in cybersecurity and threat intelligence that will train students on how to stop cyberattacks before they occur. The master program will launch in September 2019 and help meet the need for experts in threat intelligence, threat hunting, digital forensics, intrusion prevention, privacy and crypto-analysis.
One of the largest challenges facing the cybersecurity industry today is the lack of skilled personnel and the global talent shortage. Research indicates the industry will face more than 1.5 million unfilled openings by 2025.
The new degree program has partnered with top global cybersecurity companies, including McAfee, for advisory and financial support.
Students will also complete a final project with one of the industry partners to build on their new skills.
Applications for the master of cybersecurity and threat intelligence program will be accepted until Aug. 1 for fall 2019 entry.
