In an all-hands meeting at Meta/Facebook “explaining the company’s updated values,” Mark Zuckerberg says employees are not supposed to “nice ourselves to death,” adding that they are now to be known as “Metamates.” This leaked out on Twitter:
Okay. So that’s weird. It seems to me that Zuckerberg has lost the plot here as this sounds more like cult like behaviour to me. Or an alternative view is that Zuckerberg is dehumanizing his employees. That will do amazing things for retention. Which is a backhanded way of saying that employees won’t put up with this and head to the exits.
I’ll be keeping an eye on this and watching for the incoming train wreck that will likely be the result of this.
