TweetDeck Is Either Down Or Impaired Thanks To Elon Musk

Many companies use an application called TweetDeck to give themselves a “Birds Eye view” of their Twitter account as they can customize it any way they need to. It also allows them to do things like follow multiple accounts, along with the fact that it doesn’t display ads and it doesn’t push promoted Tweets. All of which are important to professional Twitter users like PR types.

But with Elon Musk’s activities over the weekend to limit the number of Tweets that you can see for dubious reasons, it seems that TweetDeck has become collateral damage. For example, my TweetDeck instance is doing this:

You’ll notice that my notification column is blank. Apparently I am lucky as others have seen multiple columns being blank. I’ve also noted that not all Tweets from people that I follow appear. And this started when Elon limited how many Tweets that users can see.

Why does this matter? If I am a major company who uses TweetDeck to manage my Twitter presence online, I can’t do that. That impairs my ability to respond to customer enquiries, get a sense of customer sentiment, or calm down any angry customer that decides to rage Tweet about my company. Which means, the value of my company being on Twitter has nosedived. Thus when new Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino knocks on my door to try and get me to advertise on Twitter, my incentive to cut a a cheque is somewhere between slim and none. And it’s all Elon’s fault. Though he doesn’t seem to be taking this fact seriously.

Let’s see how long it takes Elon to figure out how to get TweetDeck working again. Assuming that he is actually able to seeing as he fired literally everybody at Twitter who might be able to help him to right the ship.

#RIPTwitter

UPDATE: Twitter seems to have rolled out a new version of TweetDeck to me at the very least. Here’s what it looks like:

The funny thing is the old version of TweetDeck doesn’t work properly. But this new version does. I wonder if Twitter is rolling this out to fix their issues? Are you seeing this new version? If so, please leave a comment below.
