Rogers Serves Up Some Info On Z10 Launch Day… Read Into It What You Will

Today is a very interesting day when it comes to the BlackBerry Z10. My “best friends at Rogers” have just dropped me a note to give me an update on how launch day went for them:

After our launch event yesterday with Thorsten Heins and our very own Nadir Mohamed, where we sold the first BlackBerry Z10 devices in North America to our first customers, we are very happy to say that the excitement we’ve seen pre-launch for the device has turned into great results based on Day 1.

  • We have sold more BlackBerry smartphones on February 5th 2013 than any other day in Rogers history (Rogers was the first carrier to launch BlackBerry services in 1999).
  • Rogers BlackBerry experts activated thousands of BlackBerry Z10 smartphones yesterday, and provided customers with in depth training and support.
  • Some stores have temporarily sold out of the BlackBerry Z10 and additional inventory has been shipped to Rogers retail locations across Canada.

Okay. but the question is what sort of numbers have they sold? It’s great that they sold more BlackBerry devices than any other day in their history. But is that a true indicator of how well the device is doing? We’ll find out when either the quarterly numbers for  Rogers or RIM BlackBerry come out.
