A loser with nothing better to do person posted a note on CNN’s iReport website at 7AM PDT today that Steve Jobs had a heart attack this morning and was rushed to hospital. The post has since been removed by CNN once Apple confirmed that it was untrue, but it was captured by News.com before that happened. Several blogs posted the erroneous information, which in turn caused Apple’s stock price to drop and sent Apple Fanbois running into the streets screaming. Seeing how closely “The Steve” is tied to Apple, it’s no surprise that this sort of thing can have such an effect on Apple’s stock price.
Perhaps Apple should consider having a succession plan and communicate that to the public? That would stop things like the rumors about Jobs health and these sorts of stunts from having negative effects on Apple.
