Attack Code For “Critical” Windows Bug Out In The Wild….Get The Patch Now If You Haven’t Already!

Remember that Windows exploit that I told you about last week? You know, the one that Microsoft released an emergency patch for? Well, if you haven’t got the patch yet, now would be a good time to get it according to ComputerWorld:

“We’ve identified the public availability of exploit code that now shows code execution for the vulnerability addressed by MS08-067,” said Mike Reavey, operations manager of Microsoft’s Security Response Center, in a post to the MSRC blog Monday evening. “This exploit code has been shown to result in remote code execution on Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, and Windows 2000.”

Well, I guess that there’s going to be a rush to Microsoft Windows Update today for the patch now that there’s proof of an exploit (although there was some scattered reports of one according to the article when the patch came out). Of course there will be some people who won’t apply the patch and get burned by something that exploits the hole, but that’s life I guess. In any case, don’t be one of those people. Do the smart thing and get the patch now.
