As I write this, Yahoo shares are in free fall having dropped by 17% (click here for a live view) in today’s trading. The drop was started by Microsoft CEO and chair thrower Steve Ballmer who gave this answer duing the company shareholder meeting:
“We are done with all acquisition discussions with Yahoo,” Ballmer said, adding that he has said this a bunch of times but that some people remain “confused.”
“We did our best,” he said. “We’ve moved on.”
Yahoo shareholders must have a case of whiplash having seen the stock rise by 16% when Jerry Yang announced he was leaving the CEO post of Yahoo to go back to his old role of Chief Yahoo…. Whatever that means…. and now this drop.
I’m beginning to think that Yahoo is screwed. What are your thoughts?
