Microsoft Poland Photoshops Black Guy Into A White Guy…. WTF?

I hope whomever is responsible for this gets a chair tossed at him by Steve Ballmer himself as this is just outrageous.

If you look at this link, you’ll see two pictures. The top one is the original picture that was used on Microsoft’s English language business solutions site. However the bottom one is what people in Poland get to see.

Apparently Microsoft Poland doesn’t like Black people.

What surprises me is that the black guy had to go, but the Asian guy is alright. If race was an issue, couldn’t they just take a new picture with White people in it? Oh, the sharp eyed among you will also notice the monitor isn’t plugged into anything and it looks like the laptop in the picture appears to be a MacBook. But those are minor transgressions compared to replacing a Black person with a White one.

Microsoft was quick to apologize for this. Here’s what they told News.com:

“We are looking into the details of this situation,” a Microsoft representative told CNET News. “We apologize and are in the process of pulling down the image” from the Polish site.

Lovely. But that doesn’t change the fact that somebody clearly crossed the line here and needs to be punished. Hopefully Microsoft takes this seriously and comes up with a remedy that fits the crime.
