Apple Slaps Nokia With A ITC Complaint…Your Move Nokia

You might recall that Nokia complained to the International Trade Commission and asked that all Apple products be banned from import. Apple has decided that anything that is good for Nokia is good for Apple. Thus, the iLawyers have filed their own ITC complaint seeking to prevent the import of mobile phones into the US. Here’s what Nokia had to say about this:

“Nokia will study the complaint when it is received and continue to defend itself vigorously,” Nokia spokesman Mark Durrant said by text message today. “However this does not alter the fact that Apple has failed to agree appropriate terms for using Nokia technology and has been seeking a free ride on Nokia’s innovation since it shipped the first iPhone in 2007.”

This is the second time that Apple has responded in a like for like manner. The way I see it, Apple will keep responding to Nokia’s moves and make the price of pushing this along so expensive for Nokia that they would be more likely to settle and go away. At the same time, workarounds are being devised so that if the worst happens, they have a backup plan. Of course, this could go all the way to court where anything can happen. So I expect this to be settled long before it gets to court… Unless someone doing something really dumb and escalates this further.
