Another Day, Another Android Phone On Rogers [UPDATED]

Rogers seems to be going Android crazy lately. I just got an e-mail from my “best friends at Rogers” announcing the Samsung Galaxy Spica:

“The device has a 3.2” touchscreen and super slim 13mm design. It comes with 2GB of expandable memory, a 3.2MP camera and a powerful 800 Mhz processor so you can run multiple apps at once.

The device is $79.99 on select three year voice and data plans.”

Rogers has really embraced the Android OS in a big way. I don’t think any other carrier in Canada has a bigger selection of Android phones. You have to wonder what the strategy behind this is.

Any ideas?

UPDATE: Miranda of Rogers offers up this reason for Rogers love of Android phones:

“We love these devices and are committed to providing our customers with a great a Android experience. Did you know that we were the first Canadian carrier to market with Android? Also, we were the first carrier in the world to have both Android and iPhone devices! As leader in Canada, we plan to show continued growth in this space.”
